Find SiC in the database

Search by formula and check structure, band gap and source.

What you will find

Search directly for SiC in the materials database, then inspect one record's crystal structure, band gap and source. This introduces the database without requiring a model-generated answer.

Query SiC

  1. Open Resources → Materials Database.
  2. Select the formula-search mode.
  3. Enter SiC and leave other filters unset.
  4. Select Search and wait for results.

You may see several SiC records. Compare their material IDs, crystal systems, symmetry groups and band gaps: the same formula does not imply the same structure or properties. Record counts and ordering can change as the database is updated.

Chinese interface. Compare IDs and crystal systems before opening a record. Results and ordering follow the current database.

Open one record

Open a row's detail view. Check its material ID, then inspect lattice parameters and atomic positions in the crystal-structure section. Confirm the band gap and unit in material properties, and record the source database from the source information.

Chinese interface. Match the detail page's ID to the selected row, check units beside the values, then follow the source-information section.

Use a short note to retain what you found:

Fill this table with the data actually shown. There are no preset numerical answers. Use Download structure if you need the supplied structure file.

Add one filter

Return to the results, expand the query area and open the filters. Restrict the query to one crystal system and search again.

If no records match, remove that condition and confirm that the basic query still returns records. Change one condition at a time so you can identify what excluded a material.

You should now be able to find your chosen record again and identify its structure, value and source. Bring its material ID into a research conversation to discuss applicable conditions or missing evidence.
