Use evidence and save cases

Select papers and knowledge sources, review proposals and reuse designs.

Choose sources for a design

Open Materials Synthesis and select Import case in the design area. Its saved-case, device-paper and knowledge-evidence sections let you continue designs, select paper references and configure evidence sources.

When starting from a paper, prepare its title or DOI, device direction and layers of interest. See Device details.

Start a discussion from a device paper

Find a device-fabrication paper in the device-paper section and confirm the title and target device. State which layers and parameters to organize:

Use the selected paper to reconstruct the complete PSC layer sequence.
List each layer's material, method, thickness, temperature and duration with source evidence.
Leave unreported fields as open questions rather than filling them from other papers.

A paper may contain several devices and controls. Identify the sample you want to reproduce, then compare the resulting description with the current design layer by layer.

Set the knowledge-evidence scope

Open Import case → Knowledge evidence to choose sources for the current design:

SourceUseful for finding
Materials databaseMaterial structures and property records
Device papers and relationship graphsDevice stacks, processes, performance and related paper references
Personal knowledge baseSource passages, extracted parameters and PSPP relationships in the selected base
  1. Enable the sources needed for the task. For a device fabrication route, enable device papers and relationship graphs.
  2. To use a knowledge base, select it in the linked-knowledge-base field, then enable the personal-knowledge-base source.
  3. Select the evidence-search or graph action, review the question inserted into the conversation and send it. Add the paper, material system or layer of interest.
  4. Check the sources in the response against the intended papers and scope before using parameters in a design.

The knowledge-base retrieval actions remain unavailable until a base is selected and its source is enabled. If a base is missing from the list, check whether its type matches the current design domain. Use Load more when available to browse further.

Source switches determine which sources the design may use. The response still depends on the question and retrieved evidence. See Knowledge bases for upload and indexing and PSPP graphs for graph navigation.

After selecting sources, try:

Use only the device-paper sources enabled for this design and the selected knowledge base.
Find fabrication routes for MAPbI3 solar cells.
For each paper, list its DOI, sample identifier, complete layer sequence,
fabrication parameters and test conditions with supporting evidence.
Distinguish the best-performing device from controls. Mark unreported fields as unreported.
If nothing matches, state what evidence is missing instead of filling gaps from other sources.

Apply suggestions to the design

Use ordinary text suggestions as input to manual editing. If the response includes a device-design proposal card, review the layers and parameters it changes before applying or rejecting it.

A proposal may modify selected layers or replace the whole stack. Inspect the design afterwards to confirm the intended materials, order and parameters. Design checks cover the current rules; performance claims still require supporting evidence.

Save and reuse a case

  1. Review the stack and parameters to retain.
  2. Save a case and enter its name and notes.
  3. Record paper sources, applicable conditions and open questions in the notes.
  4. Later, choose it from Import case → Saved cases to continue editing.

Use names that identify architecture and change, such as “PSC · Interface treatment A”. Preserve any current design you still need before importing another case. Check layer count and key parameters after import.

Conversation history preserves discussion; cases preserve reusable design content. Reopen the relevant conversation for continued discussion, then confirm the current design area.
