Upload a structure and build a supercell

Upload a structure, run preprocessing and download a 64-atom supercell.

Prepare the sample

Expand an 8-atom silicon cell into a 64-atom supercell. This example processes a structure; it submits no DFT or molecular dynamics task.

Open the silicon sample and save it as si-conventional.vasp. This geometry example contains 8 Si atoms in a cell with 5.43 Å edges.

Load the template and upload

  1. Open Explore → Template Center, find Crystal structure preprocessing, and select Use template. See the Template Center guide for template selection and use.
  2. Select the Structure input node, choose Upload structure file as its source, and upload the sample.
  3. Keep Structure preparation at original and Structure transformation at supercell 2 × 2 × 2. Confirm the filename appears on the canvas and the draft is saved.

Chinese interface shown: the selected file list contains the sample filename.

Run

Select Check in the toolbar and resolve any reported issues. Open Test run. The input panel should show the filename and indicate that the structure text is already saved, so another upload is unnecessary. Select Start run and wait for a successful status.

Completed run, Chinese interface: all five nodes show green success marks, and structure transformation produces a 64-atom silicon supercell.

Check and download

Under Results → Structure transformation, check 8 → 64 atoms, cell edges of 10.86 × 10.86 × 10.86 Å, a volume ratio of 8, and a PASS status.

Actual run, Chinese interface: the input cell is on the left and the 2×2×2 supercell on the right.

In this result area, select Download structure files → POSCAR. Line 7 of the downloaded file should be 64; your browser may name the file POSCAR.txt.

If a run fails, open the failed node's logs in Node trace, resolve the reported input issue and retry. See the workflow guide for other operations.
