Perovskite device design

Discuss layer structures, processes and changes to a PSC design.

Last updated

Open the perovskite device workspace

Open Research Apps → Materials Synthesis. The current workspace supports perovskite PSC devices. Wide-bandgap materials, general materials and other device types are not yet available.

Discuss the design on the left and edit its layer stack in the design panel on the right. The initial stack is a starting point for discussion. Adapt it to your device; it is not a validated experimental recipe.

Edit the layer stack

Select a layer to inspect or change its material, thickness, fabrication method and related parameters. Use Add layer to add a functional layer.

Chinese interface. Confirm the selected layer before checking its material, thickness and process parameters. These values belong to the initial example design.

Check the sequence of substrate, conductive layer, transport layers, absorber, passivation and electrode. A material used in a different position may have a different role or require different processing.

Open the 3D preview to inspect the stack. It helps check layer relationships and design content; it does not run a device simulation or establish performance.

See Edit layers and preview a stack for fields, layer creation and ordering.

Ask about the current design

Choose a starter for assessing the stack, optimizing a selected layer or reproducing a paper, then add your conditions. For example:

Assess the current PSC layer stack.
Focus on layer order and material compatibility, and explain the evidence.
Mark suggestions without paper support separately.
List missing temperatures, thicknesses or test conditions needed to assess the design.

For a specific paper, provide its DOI, title or other searchable information. To use your own documents, upload and parse them in a knowledge base, then select that base for the message.

Review proposed changes

The assistant may return only written suggestions, which you need to edit into the layer parameters yourself. If the response includes a device design proposal card, review its changes and evidence before applying or rejecting it.

Check whether a proposal merges changes or replaces the entire stack. After applying it, inspect the design panel again to confirm that required layers, materials and parameters remain.

Passing validation only means that the design passed the current rules. Assess synthesis reports and process suggestions against the original literature, experimental conditions and material properties. They are not results from a completed experiment.

Save and resume a design

Select Save case, enter a name and add useful notes. For example: “Passivation layer changed; annealing conditions still to confirm.”

Load saved designs through Import case to continue editing. Conversation history preserves the discussion; cases preserve design content. Check the current stack before saving it.

To find existing device papers and fabrication steps, see Device Database.
