Retrieve three SiC records
Use a research conversation to query the materials database for SiC. By the end, you will have records to inspect and know how to narrow your next query.
After signing in, open Research and select New chat. Wait for models to load, then choose an available model below the message box. This example needs no attachment, knowledge base or web search.
Send the question
Paste this request into the message box and send it.
Specifying the material, record count and fields makes the response easier to check. Three records are enough for a first pass.
Inspect the records and response
When processing finishes, find the Semanta materials database result card near the answer. It lists the records returned in this query and their IDs. Expand the processing section to review what happened.
Chinese interface. Match the material IDs first, then verify the response's values, units and sources in the record details.
A formula can have several records, with different source databases, structures or calculation conditions. A band gap from one record does not represent every SiC structure.
Open one record and check:
- Whether its material ID and formula match the answer.
- Whether its crystal system, space group and atom count describe the structure you need.
- Whether the band gap has a unit and the source provides enough context to interpret it.
If the card has no detail link, open Resources → Materials Database and search by formula. See Find SiC in the database.
Ask a follow-up question
Continue in the same conversation and add one condition:
Check the records returned by this new query. If there are no matches, relax one condition. Keep missing values marked as missing.
If the result is unexpected
