Research conversations

Ask questions, choose sources and skills, and inspect outputs and history.

Start or resume a conversation

Open Research in the top navigation. Select New chat for a new question. To keep earlier context, open a conversation in the sidebar or use Search chats.

Include the research object, known conditions and intended output. For example, “Check conductivity values at each temperature in this table, keep the original units and mark missing values” is easier to act on than “Analyze this.”

Provide information for this message

Attach files

Select Upload files below the message box. Attach up to 5 files per message, each nonempty and no larger than 10 MB. Wait for uploading and reading to finish before sending.

Identify relevant columns, units or structural conditions. Retry failed attachments using their error controls. Mentioning a filename in a message does not give the platform access to a local file.

Select knowledge bases

Open Knowledge bases, search and select up to 10 bases for this message. This defines the retrieval scope; it does not automatically include every knowledge base in your account.

If the list is empty, create a base and upload documents under Resources → Knowledge Assets. Retrieval also depends on parsing and indexing being complete. See Manage knowledge bases.

Chinese interface. Check the selected count and include only the knowledge bases needed for this message.

Use skills

Choose an added, enabled skill through More → Add skills, or type @ in the message box. You can select up to 10 skills per message. Start with one or two that directly match the task.

If a skill is missing, check its enabled state in Explore → Skill Center → My skills. Selecting a skill does not replace explaining the task and providing its inputs. See Skill Center to add or create a skill.

Web search and models

Enable Web search when you need public web sources. Availability depends on the selected model. Leave it off when you only need your files or platform database records.

Use the models currently offered below the message box. Resolve loading or error states before sending.

Choose an appropriate source

TaskWhat to prepare
Analyze a table or structure fileAttach the file and identify relevant content and units
Repeatedly search several papersIndex them in a knowledge base, then select it for the turn
Find public web informationEnable web search as needed and request sources
Organize information in a fixed formatSelect an enabled skill and provide the data
Build or modify calculation stepsOpen Material Expert and use the calculation assistant

You can combine inputs, such as a literature collection with your own formatting skill. Define the source scope and processing task clearly, keeping unrelated objectives in separate requests.

Inspect processing and results

Expand the processing section to see retrieval or tool execution. Use database result cards to check individual records; see the SiC result example. For calculation tasks, open Run details to inspect status, logs and generated files.

When a round creates files or other results, open or download them from the relevant card or the Results view. Keep inputs, units and sources with downloaded results.

If processing is going in the wrong direction, stop generation and provide clearer conditions before continuing. Stopping does not undo steps already completed.

Manage conversation history

The conversation menu lets you rename, pin or delete a conversation. A name such as “SiC · Band-gap records” is easier to find later.

Goal mode, Plan mode and tool settings are not yet available. Use the available model, skill, knowledge-base and attachment controls.

For unexpected results, follow Read and check research results. Identify missing information or the failed step before changing the request.
